A select group of images are now available for purchase from Leonardi's black and white documentary photography series The Shadow Paradox: Religious Festivals of Nicaragua, 1999-2004. The festivals not only exhibit cultural traditions unique to Nicaragua, but also unveil more profound implications. The Shadow Paradox photographs represent an attempt to expose those deeper truths, the inevitable symbols of the dark and the light that reflect in all humanity, the heaven and hell in each and everyone one of us. This special edition portfolio highlights the dark humor that inspires the incredible home-made masks used in many of Nicaragua's festivals. The haunting images in this portfolio were made during the festival for the la Virgen de los Desamparados in Diriá, Nicaragua. Leonardi's documentary photographs from Diriá unveil the often sardonic, amusing and occasionally frightening displays of Nicaragua's collective psyche that take to the street at this festival, where the essential interior battle between good and evil takes center stage. This special edition of 5 portfolios contains 7 inkjet prints from The Shadow Paradox, each made using archival inks and printed on archival paper. Every print is numbered and signed by the artist. The complete portfolio of 7 exhibition quality prints is offered at US$950.00. Portfolio cost includes express UPS shipping of the photographs to any country in North America, Europe or Latin America.
