Richard Leonardi's professional photography has been published in Europe, Latin America and the United States by such periodicals as the Washington Post, The Observer (London), Saint Louis Post-Dispatch, Sunday Telegraph (London) and magazines like Cigar Aficionado (M. Shanken Communications, New York City), Explore Magazine (HCP Publishing, Miami), United Airlines' Hemispheres Magazine (Ink Publishing, Brooklyn, NY), Going Places Magazine (SpaFax Publishing, London)and PM Network (Imagination Publishing, Chicago). NGO's and non-profit's like ICS Hub, VSO (Surrey, England), Bread for the World (Washington, D.C.) and PBS (New Hampshire) and American Universities Xavier and Boston College, as well as other international corporations and organizations have contracted Richard for photographic work in Nicaragua. Richard's documentary photography has been exhibited in the central gallery of the Nicaraguan National Museum, where his work is held in permanent collection. A graduate of Pepperdine University in Malibu, California and full-time resident of Nicaragua since 1996, Leonardi is also an internationally recognized expert on Nicaragua and the founder of Nicaragua's first eco tour company. He is the author (text and photos) of the first European-published guidebook on the country: Footprint Nicaragua (Bath, England) and editor of landmark documentary photography book The Nicaraguans (Medellin, Colombia). Richard Leonardi has been a contributor to numerous other books on Nicaragua, as well as authoring magazine articles and influential essays on Nicaragua's politics, culture, history and nature. He spends free time working on reforestation and wildlife conservation at his private nature park, the Lost Canyon Nature Reserve, www.Lost-Canyon.org
